Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain our Linux, Windows HyperV, and VMware environments. This role is responsible for administering production systems, managing physical data center infrastructure, such as servers, and power distribution units; and responding to operational alerts. You will work closely with cross functional teams on deployments, serve as the primary contact for hardware vendors, and ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation. A strong candidate will bring solid technical fundamentals, a commitment to reliability, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and administer physical (bare metal) servers, including hardware provisioning, installation, upgrades, and decommissioning using Lenovo XClarity and related server management platforms.
  • Manage and maintain data center physical infrastructure including power distribution units (PDUs), cabling, and rack installations.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Windows Hyper-V clusters and virtualization environments.
  • Manage and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems (or similar enterprise Linux derivatives) running a variety of software packages and services.
  • Manage VMware environments, including provisioning hypervisors, resource allocation, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor and triage alerts from servers, network devices, and applications using Zabbix, Elastic, Prometheus, and Grafana; process alerts into tickets and route to appropriate teams.
  • Serve as primary contact for hardware vendors (Lenovo, Dell, HP); open support tickets, manage RMAs, and coordinate and supervise on-site repairs.
  • Administer Windows Server environments including DNS, DHCP, file servers, and Windows Admin Center for Hyper-V monitoring and management.
  • Manage and improve monitoring and alerting stacks to ensure system reliability and uptime.
  • Create and maintain documentation in Confluence, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), knowledge base articles, and asset inventories.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and maintenance windows, which may include occasional evening or overnight work.
  • Perform hands-on datacenter work including racking, installation, maintenance, and Ethernet/fiber patching.
  • Collaborate with other teams to improve system and infrastructure design while leveraging open-source technologies whenever possible.
  • Participate in vulnerability management, change management, and Agile activities including Kanban and Scrum.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the organization and adhere to all organizational standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of organization, project, fiscal, and personnel-related information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ideal Candidate:
  • 3-5 years of Linux system administration experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) or similar enterprise Linux derivatives.
  • 3+ years of experience with Windows Hyper-V cluster deployment, configuration, and administration.
  • 2+ years of experience with VMware vSphere ecosystem including ESXi, vCenter, and related technologies.
  • Experience with bare metal server administration including hardware provisioning, BIOS/UEFI configuration, and server management platforms.
  • Hands-on datacenter experience with racking, installation, maintenance, cabling, and physical infrastructure management.
  • Experience with data center power infrastructure including UPS systems and power distribution units.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms such as Zabbix, Elastic, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, preferably Jira and Jira Service Management.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server administration including DNS, DHCP, file servers, and Windows Admin Center.
  • Understanding of host networking concepts including VLANs, switches, and TCP/IP fundamentals.
  • Basic ability to write scripts in Bash, Perl, Python, or PowerShell; familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, or similar.
  • Experience with vendor management including opening support tickets, managing RMAs, and coordinating on-site repairs.
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile methods, issue trackers, or similar tools.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation and occasional evening or overnight maintenance windows.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to data center facilities in the South Denver Metro Area as needed.
  • Reliable internet connectivity: this is primarily a remote position with periodic travel to local data centers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver and execute.
  • Strong sense of ownership and drive.
  •  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Lenovo XClarity server management platform.
  • Experience with Dell iDRAC or HP iLO server management platforms.
  • Experience with SaltStack or other configuration management platforms.
  • RHCE, Microsoft, or other relevant industry certifications.
  • Experience with documentation platforms such as Confluence.
  • Experience with Amazon AWS, Azure Cloud, or cloud computing concepts.
  • Previous work within a cybersecurity-aware team or organization.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST CIS/CSF, HIPAA, HITRUST, or ISO 27001.
  • Thorough understanding of cybersecurity concepts and defense-in-depth strategies.

    • Salary Range: $95,000-$155,000
    • Status: Full Time, Exempt
    • Reports to: VP of Infrastructure
