A Workday Engineer has strong hands-on expertise in Core Human Capital Management (HCM) and Advanced Compensation to support the design, configuration and optimization of our Workday platform. This role is a key technical contributor within the Workday Center of Excellence and will support critical HCM operations, the employee lifecycle and complex compensation planning events. This role collaborates closely with Human Resources (HR), Payroll, Finance and Information Technology (IT) to develop scalable, high-quality Workday solutions aligned with organizational strategy and governance standards.

Essential Duties

The unique responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the essential functions listed as follows:
Advanced Compensation Configuration and Ownership
- Lead the configuration, maintenance and optimization of Advanced Compensation, including merit, bonus, stock plans and compensation cycle events.
- Build, test and validate compensation configurations for both annual and off-cycle events.
- Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for all Advanced Compensation updates, enhancements and production issue troubleshooting.
Core HCM Configuration
- Configure and maintain foundational HCM components such as supervisory organizations, job architecture, positions and compensation structures.
- Design and optimize business processes, routing, conditions and workflow logic supporting HCM and compensation operations.
- Ensure data quality and platform accuracy through proactive audits, validations and monitoring activities.
Data Loads, Tools and Operational Support
- Support data uploads and mass updates using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIBs), including compensation adjustments, supervisory org changes, position management updates and other large-scale HCM activities.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement configuration fixes or enhancements as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Solution Design
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable Workday configurations.
- Provide Workday best practices and guidance to ensure system stability, maintainability, and enhanced user experience.
- Participate in configuration governance, including design reviews, impact assessments and documentation.
Testing, Documentation and Release Readiness
- Lead testing efforts including test script creation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for projects and semi-annual Workday releases.
- Evaluate Workday release notes for Core HCM and Advanced Comp, identify relevant features and recommend adoption strategies.
- Document configuration decisions, process flows and solution designs to support knowledge sharing and long-term governance.
