JOB DESCRIPTION
Strategic Kids Chess Instructors teach elementary or middle school students how to play chess after school

CHESS CLASS DESCRIPTION FOR FAMILIES
Using a story-based curriculum, each class will get students excited about the ancient game of chess Lessons are tailored to the skill level of the students, meaning all chess levels are welcome During each class, children receive a 30-minute lesson followed by 30 minutes of chess playing time Chess teaches many life skills, including sportsmanship, patience, strategic thinking, planning ahead, and working toward a goal. Each course will end with a fun tournament where students have the opportunity to win trophies and prizes

EXPERIENCE
Applicants must know how to play chess, enjoy playing chess, and know the fundamentals of chess. Candidates must also like being around Elementary aged students and have experience working or volunteering to assist students.

PAY RATE
$24 per hour, plus 30 minutes for set up and clean up at each school site

WORK HOURS
*Must have afternoon availability hours a week).
* Most Enrichment Classes are 60 minutes.
* Work the days and times to fit your schedule

CURRENT JOB OPENINGS
There are hundreds of Strategic Kids Enrichment Classes throughout Orange County, and they are changing all of the time as sessions end and new classes are offered Chess Instructors are currently needed at schools in South Orange County and North Orange County.

MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT
Chess Instructors earn $10 per day minimum for mileage. Anything over 15 miles, one way from the instructor's home to the instructor's assigned school is $15 per work day. Anything over 20 miles, one way from the instructor's home to the instructor's assigned school is $20 per work day.

LOCATION
Public, private, and charter schools in South Orange County and North Orange County.

Strategic Kids hires staff that are positive, joyful, flexible, responsible, on-time, and willing to drive to any assigned school site.

REQUIREMENTS

18 years old or older
Speak English
Have a reliable car to drive to assigned school(s)
Pass Live Scan Fingerprints (paid for by Strategic Kids)

SUMMER WORK
Strategic Kids offers year-round work and full-time hours in the summer.
