About

Tomlinson is currently seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator/Batcher to work at our Asphalt plants in the Ottawa area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support daily asphalt production by assisting with routine activities.
  • Monitor asphalt plant performance to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations.
  • Safely receive and unload deliveries of liquid asphalt following established procedures.
  • Perform mechanical tasks, including inspecting, maintaining, and repairing bearings, belts, and related equipment.
  • Assist with ongoing plant maintenance to support reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Carry out additional duties at the asphalt plant as needed and directed by supervisors.

REQUIRMENTS

  • Some experience as a general labourer may be required.
  • Mechanical knowledge.
  • Specific asphalt training.
  • Welding experience is an asset.
  • Batching knowledge is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working in an asphalt plant environment – dusty, staining from asphalt residue, loud, etc.
  • Exposure to the elements.
  • Regular work shifts are hour days.
  • Requires some extended shifts, night work and weekend work.
  • Some physical work – lifting, bending, crouching, etc.
  • Working at heights.
