Summary of Role:
The Granter Writer at Safe Harbor supports the organization's mission by assisting in the research, writing & data reports for grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government funders. Working closely with the Development Director, this role helps communicate the impact of Safe Harbor's services, ensuring proposals and reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with funder requirements.
Summary of Descriptions and Responsibilities:
Grant Writing
- Assist, prepare and submit grant applications on an ongoing basis across a range of funding sources as needed or directed from the Development Director, including:
- Federal, State, Local and non-governmental grants
- Track and schedule renewals for grants of varying lengths and schedules
- Project manage, in partnership with internal stake holders:
- Preparation of all required application components, such as Memoranda of Understanding, additional forms, etc.
- Develop work plan for more complex proposals identifying and accounting for all requirements
- Develop responsive programs to meet new funding requirements
- Compose budget justification
- Attend Request For Proposal trainings
- Compose and tailor grant narratives
- Provide completed grant proposals to the Development Director for review prior to submission
- Research and pursue new grant opportunities
- In partnership with Grant administrator:
- maintain grant objective documentation for program leaders and staff.
- In partnership with grant administrator, maintain contact with grant makers
- Develop grant change requests
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions/Skills:
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple processes and diverse stakeholders to ensure on-time applications and changes
- Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and private grant landscape
- Effective time management and prioritization
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in various forms.
- Communicate and deal effectively with individuals and groups in stressful situations.
- Work effectively under conditions of limited supervision, stress, and rapidly changing situations and circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to execute strategic goals and objectives and monitor and report on them.
- Capacity to work effectively and relate positively with others of diverse age, language, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious belief, mental/physical ability, and socioeconomic status.
- Effectively listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally.
- Ability to understand and identify funding needs of agency and speak to the alignment of agency goals with grant funder
- Google Suite, written and oral communication skills.
- Understand the importance of Safe Harbor Crisis Center and its role in the community.
- Support Safe Harbor Crisis Center's mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Business, Communications, Writing
- 2 years of experience in lieu of education
- Must pass a background investigation check (BCI).
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of grants, grant reporting, and grant administration.
- Experience using and coordinating the use of centralized client data tracking systems.
- A minimum of two years' experience in grant writing, preferably with a nonprofit and/or domestic abuse and sexual assault agency
Primary Schedule: In partnership with the Development Director, the schedule will be dependent on organizational needs
