Job Overview
The Medical Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This position is responsible for greeting patients, managing the check-in and check-out process, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance benefits to ensure accurate billing and smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities

  • Front Desk Operations
  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Check patients in and out efficiently while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer incoming calls, route messages, and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
  • Insurance Verification & Billing Support
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to appointments or procedures.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications as required.
  • Accurately enter and update insurance and demographic information in the practice management system.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of service.
  • Communicate clearly with billing staff regarding coverage or eligibility issues.
  • Patient Relations & Office Support
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist patients with questions or paperwork.
  • Handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support clinical and administrative staff with daily office operations as needed.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping of all front desk activities.

Skills

  • Ophthalmology / Oculoplasty Experience preferred (1-2 yrs).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems and strong phone etiquette.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to enhance communication with diverse patients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent typing skills with attention to detail for data entry and proofreading.
  • Previous experience in office management or clerical roles is preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with calendar management and scheduling software.
  • Proficient in online Insurance Verification and collection of copay/deductibles.
