Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Personal Care Assistant (PCA)/Caregiver to join our team and support individuals in their homes across Maine. As a PCA, you will provide non-medical, person-centered care to MaineCare members, helping them maintain independence and improve quality of life. This position follows MaineCare guidelines and works closely with case managers and agencies to deliver safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility support
  • Help with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) like light housekeeping, laundry, meal prep, errands, and grocery shopping
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, encouraging social engagement and comfort
  • Follow individualized care plans and document services accurately
  • Assist with safe transfers and ambulation (no medical lifting required)
  • Use infection control and safety practices in all caregiving tasks
  • Report changes in the client's condition to the supervisor or case manager
  • Maintain respectful, professional communication with clients, families, and providers
  • Adhere to MaineCare compliance standards and agency policies

Experience

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with memory care techniques and direct support services is advantageous.
  • A background in social work or home care is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Experience working with older adults, people with disabilities, or individuals with mental health needs is highly valued
  • Willing to complete PCA training (if not already certified)
