We are seeking a highly capable Electrical Design Engineer. You will join our team within Jersey Energy - a leading consultancy of design engineers that provide mechanical, electrical and public health services for construction projects, businesses and buildings. This role is central to the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions from concept through to completion. You will take ownership of day-to-day project delivery under the guidance of a Line Manager, applying the company's technical standards, processes, and best practices to deliver work on time and within scope. Key Responsibilities
Deliver electrical building services designs in line with BS 7671, IET and CIBSE, including calculations, 2D CAD layouts, schematics, specifications and tender schedules. Design and coordinate systems including LV power, lighting, small power, containment, data and EV charging, working closely with other building services disciplines. Agree project scope and deliverables with the Line Manager and manage day-to-day delivery to programme and budget. Allocate and oversee work for trainee and graduate engineers to support timely and cost-effective project delivery. Produce high-quality concept, feasibility and detailed designs, ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety legislation. Undertake site surveys, inspections and progress monitoring, producing clear technical reports as required. Deliver projects in accordance with Company QA procedures, industry standards and fee constraints. Review and manage contractor tender returns and variations, including cost analysis and technical sign-off. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and undertake regular CPD to support ongoing professional development. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
A flexible, proactive approach to work, with the ability to manage changing priorities while contributing positively as part of a collaborative team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and internal project teams. Strong project management capability, including planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple workstreams to programme and budget. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, alongside industry-standard engineering software including Dialux, 2D AutoCAD, 3D Revit (BIM), Amtech, EOM, and other relevant specialist design tools to directly produce project deliverables. Level of Experience
Proven experience delivering projects end-to-end, from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, tender, and construction support. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or Level 3 City & Guilds Electrotechnical Engineering (5357), or Level 3 City & Guilds Design, Erection & Verification (2396). Other Qualities
Professional, approachable, and confident in dealing with clients and stakeholders at all levels. Diplomatic and tactful, with the ability to manage differing viewpoints and contribute to effective problem-solving. A strong team player with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to support and mentor others. Insightful and self-aware, demonstrating sound judgement and a commitment to continuous improvement. Effective at networking and building strong, long-term working relationships. Holds a clean driving licence and is willing to travel to project sites as required. Job Benefits
