Job Description
New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (Elmhurst, NY) seeks Director of Capacity Management to direct, administer, and coordinate the systemic review and evaluation of operational activities of the Capacity Management and Patient Throughput Department to ensure optimal utilization of human and material resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for overseeing the transition of patients across the continuum of care and for directing patient flow.
2. Prepare recommendations and plans for effective utilization, implementation, and coordination of operating and support staff activities and the department's strategic goals and objectives.
3. Maintains oversight of department operations, ensuring a conducive and collaborative environment that promotes efficient throughput of patients throughout the hospital. Implements standards of practice, interprets system and legal requirements.
4. Monitors and maintains departmental goals, financial performance/budgets, departmental policies and procedures, human resources management, materials and supplies management, patient satisfaction, appropriate reporting, and coordination of departmental functions with the operations of other hospital departments to ensure quality services for patients.
5. Collaborates with medical staff, vendors, and administration to identify and implement models and best practices with an emphasis on quality of care, service improvement, and throughput.
6. Expedites, prioritizes, synchronizes, and mediates clinical issues in real time for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
7. Interfaces with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to expediate appropriate care and patient flow.
8. Anticipates and determines strategies for long lengths of stay or discharge patients in concert with Case Management.
9. Collect, analyze, and report data that identifies barriers in achieving quality improvement goals.
10. Establishes and maintains systemic review and assessment of bed availability, frequent monitoring of all key patient activity areas.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in public administration, Public Health, or a related field, and two years of experience in managing and developing clinical, hospital and/or organizational policies and procedures, to include experience in analyzing, developing, and managing clinical or hospital patient flow activities and healthcare delivery services.
