*Role Overview*: The mammographer performs duties associated with the daily function of a mammographer
*Required Experience*: 1-year mammography experience preferred, but not required. We are willing to train registered radiologic technologists wanting to learn mammography.
*Required Education*: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
*Required License:* Current certificate as a Diagnostic X-ray Machine Operator by the Indiana
Department of Health. Current registration with ARRT with advanced Mammography certification with ARRT is to be completed within 1 year of hire date. You must complete MQSA mandated training within 6 months of hire date if you’re not a registered mammographer. CPR certified.

*MAJOR FUNCTIONS:*
Listed below are major duties and responsibilities of the Mammography Technologist. The person hired for this position is delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability to carry out his/her assigned duties. Even though the job description is broad, every effort has been made to make it as complete as possible. However, it must be emphasized that this position may be required to perform other duties and activities.
* Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms.
* Assist/perform procedures; stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound biopsy, ductograms, needle localizations, etc.
* Verify correct patient identification.
* Checks and verifies all physician orders.
* Instructs and explains procedure to each patient and/or family member.
* Performs each exam using proper positioning and technical factors.
* Applies correct radiation protection principles.
* Provides appropriate care to all age groups.
* Uses appropriate documentation for patient care review.
* Evaluates exams for quality and completeness.
* Operates all equipment efficiently.
* Maintains a clean, well-stocked environment.
* Demonstrates a positive, courteous, and helpful attitude with patients and staff.
* Adheres to all department policies and procedures.
* Comply with all HIPAA privacy/security policies and procedures.
* Follows universal and isolation precautions.
* Assists in any and all related imaging areas as needed.
