Job Summary
The Associate Degree Nursing Program is seeking qualified
individuals to teach theory, clinical and/or laboratory courses.
Within the guidelines of the Texas Board of Nursing and
Blinn College, the faculty shall understand and be willing to promote and
support the mission and goals of Blinn College and the Associate Degree Nursing
Program. The faculty shall perform administrative duties, classroom/laboratory
instruction, and other duties as assigned. The faculty will consist of a
registered nurse who has graduated from an accredited program and is in "good
standing" with the Texas Board of Nursing.
Principal Accountabilities
- Perform classroom instruction using various methods and
strategies including, but not limited to, the use of lectures/discussion,
demonstration/performance, multi-media presentations, on-line, and web-enhanced
instruction. - Evaluation of students in areas of psychomotor, cognitive
and affective domains. - Faculty is responsible for maintaining accurate student
records in accordance to program and college policies. - Maintenance of evaluations in clinical and classroom
laboratory for nursing skills, attendance records, incidence/counseling
records, and grade entries. - Create, develop and revise course materials and maintain
assessment on course outcomes. - Supervise clinical competency based on the nursing
clinical evaluation tool set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing. - Establishes and maintains a liaison between the clinical
site and faculty. - Understands, adheres, and maintains current knowledge of
the program's policies and procedures. - Maintains current knowledge of the profession by
participating in continuing education for enhancement of instructional and
practical skills. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
- If master's degree or doctoral degree is in a discipline
other than nursing, must hold a bachelor's degree in nursing from an
approved/accredited program and have at least 6 graduate semester hours in
nursing with a documented plan to complete within a designated time frame. - Current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered
nurse in the State of Texas. - Have
at least two (2) years in the last four (4) years of nursing practice
experience
Minimum Competencies
Evidence
of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise,
and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's or doctoral degree in Nursing
Preferred Competencies
Knowledge of the associate degree nursing curriculum and
instructional methodology and techniques; Knowledge of the Texas administrative
code part 11, chapter 214, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Guidelines for Instructional
Programs in Workforce Education.

1. Acceptance does not guarantee
the applicant will receive a specified semester course or be utilized to teach
specified sections.
2. All selected applicants, whether utilized or not, are required to furnish
official transcripts of all college work as soon as possible after hire.
Failure to provide an official transcript will result in the applicant being
removed from the list of Part-time instructors.
3. All selected applicants must
complete a background check, drug screening, CPR certification, and required
immunizations.
