About
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Pharmacy Manager specializing in Oncology to lead our pharmacy services within a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will oversee the oncology pharmacy operations, ensuring the safe and effective preparation and distribution of chemotherapy and other specialized medications. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of hospital-based pharmacy practices, particularly in high-acuity settings such as Level I Trauma Centers, PICU, and ICU. The Pharmacy Manager-Oncology will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care, manage medication safety protocols, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
*Responsibilities*
* Lead and supervise the oncology pharmacy team, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
* Oversee the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of chemotherapy agents and other specialized medications using aseptic techniques.
* Manage medication inventory, storage, and documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized patient treatment plans focusing on oncology care.
* Monitor patient responses to medications, including acute pain management and IV infusion therapies, adjusting treatments as necessary.
* Ensure accurate medication administration by providing guidance on medical terminology, physiology knowledge, anatomy knowledge, and patient assessment.
* Maintain compliance with managed care policies while optimizing medication therapy outcomes for oncology patients.
* Implement quality assurance measures related to medication safety, adverse event reporting, and infection control practices in aseptic technique.
* Participate in hospital committees related to pharmacy practice, patient safety, and clinical initiatives such as critical care or emergency room protocols.
* Provide education and training to pharmacy staff regarding new therapies, emerging treatments in oncology, and updates in hospital medicine practices.
*Skills*
* Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy settings with a focus on oncology; Level I Trauma Center experience preferred.
* Strong background in managed care principles and clinical pharmacy experience within acute care environments such as ICU or PICU.
* Proven leadership skills with prior management or post-residency experience in a hospital setting.
* Expertise in critical care areas including emergency room experience, acute pain management, pain management strategies, and patient service excellence.
* Proficiency in medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, medication administration techniques including IV infusion therapies.
* Skilled in patient assessment for complex cases involving pediatrics or adult populations requiring specialized oncology treatments.
* Knowledge of aseptic technique for sterile compounding; familiarity with hospital medicine protocols is essential.
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care outcomes across various hospital departments.
