School Bus Driver

• Starting Pay Rate: $29.29 per hour (Substitute Rate: $28.29 per hour)
• Hours: Split shifts, typically morning and afternoon routes (hours may vary based on route assignments)

Key Responsibilities

• The School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and school-related activities.
• Operate a school bus safely and professionally in all types of weather conditions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure operational safety (e.g., checking tires, brakes, lights, and emergency equipment).
• Maintain order and discipline among student passengers according to West Genesee CSD policies.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and school district regulations.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and the Transportation Department.
• Complete necessary paperwork, including route sheets and incident reports.
• Attend all required safety meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a New York State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Successful completion of a physical examination, drug screening, and background check.
• Clean driving record.
• A strong commitment to student safety and customer service.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
