Grocery Manager

Third Street Market is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manager for our Grocery Department. The ideal candidate will assist the General Manager with day-to-day operations including product ordering, inventory management, invoice receiving and reconciliation, stocking and facing. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the grocery side of our store.

Core Duties

Inventory Management:

• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory numbers in the POS.
• Help with ordering and receiving products.
• Conduct regular inventory checks to prevent overstocking or stockouts and ensure that on-hand inventory numbers are accurate.
• Reconcile invoices and ensure accurate pricing is set within margins defined by the store manager and ownership.

Stocking and Facing:

• Ensure shelves are well-stocked, organized and faced
• Maintain product displays according to company standards and at the direction of the grocery manager.
• Assist in unloading freight trucks and organizing back stock.

Product Selection and Testing:

• Support the Grocery Department Manager in product selection and displays
• Help in deciding which new products to test and introduce.
• Monitor product performance and customer feedback on new items.

Customer Service:

• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their inquiries and purchases.
• Assisting customers with special orders or requests
• Listening to customer feedback to order new products that are in demand
• Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with the General Manager to understand all aspects of department operations. – Be able to act as the grocery manager in their absence.
• Train and mentor new team members as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments (Wellness, Cashiers and Produce) to ensure a cohesive customer experience storewide.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a grocery or natural food retail store, preferred
• Minimum (1) one year of comparable management experience, preferred
• Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and work well under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal communication capabilities
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Customer service-oriented attitude
• Passion for health and healthy living is preferred – this is a core ideal of the store
• Ability to lift and move heavy boxes and products.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications with an aptitude for learning new software systems.
