The Materials Coordinator is responsible for reviewing inventory transactions for accuracy and developing methods to improve inventory accuracy.  He or she will coordinate the movement of materials to and from the main warehouse and off-site receiving warehouses.  In addition, he or she will oversee inventory control for purchased products and for manufactured components that are being stored in external warehouse facilities.

Responsibilities:

The following duties are considered essential to this position.  Other responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Stage resin material rail cars. 
  • Draw test samples from rail cars, bulk trucks, and gaylords in accordance with QA methods. 
  • Ensure that samples are drawn in a timely manner to allow for testing, disposition, and material pumping time. 
  • Complete required paperwork and deliver to the quality assurance lab.
  • Follow all safety requirements when pulling samples.
  • Control the material flow into and out of the resin storage silos. 
  • Record resin levels daily. 
  • Ensure that only inspected and approved resin is placed in the silo. 
  • Pump resin material from bulk trucks and rail cars into material storage silos in a safe manner that does not damage material.
  • Ensure that resin is placed in the silo in a timely basis.  This requires climbing.
  • Maintain transaction accuracy.  Meet or exceed accuracy goal.  Determine root cause of inaccurate transactions and implement corrective action.
  • Assist with assigning work to shuttle drivers or forklift drivers who load or unload shuttle trucks.
  • Assume duties of assistant warehouse supervisor during his or her absence. 
  • Ensure that required materials are available in the manufacturing facility when needed.
  • Ensure that the receiving storage facility and the offsite receiving warehouse facilities are used in an effective manner.
  • Coordinate receiving activities with Quality Assurance.  Ensure that required inspection samples are available in a timely manner.  Draw samples in accordance with QA sample drawing methods.
  • Assist with the direction of employees within the department when their supervisor is not available.
  • Ensure that all equipment, including forklifts, tractors, trailers, and van, is inspected for damage and wear. Notify maintenance personnel for repair or appropriate persons, such as warehouse manager or security, for all other events.  Maintain vehicle maintenance reports.
  • Assist with physical inventory.  Maintain record of inventory scans.
  • Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials within the field.
  • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times.  Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.
  • Explain company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Understand the employee bargaining agreement (union contract) and ensure that suggested work methods are in accordance with that agreement.

  • Minimum three years of receiving dock or material control experience required.  Five years preferred. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent a plus.  
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions accurately.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of issues in an organized, concise manner. 
  • Basic computer skills required.   Ability to learn advanced skills with the programs used by the Suncast forklift operators.  This includes scanner use and data entry.  Ability to accurately enter data in an established data base.

    This is a physically active position in a manufacturing facility.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk within the plant and outside on the property, climb stairs and fixed ladders, stoop, kneel, effectively communicate with others and use active listening skills. The employee must be capable of using a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. The employee will occasionally be required to climb to the top of the material silos and to work within a confined area.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision ability requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.  This is a full-time position.  Due to variations in production schedules, this employee may be required to work additional hours, including weekends, to meet additional demands and deadlines.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a manufacturing warehouse facility and outside on plant property.  The warehouse will have seasonal variations in temperature and humidity.  Noise level is moderate for a manufacturing warehouse facility. Outdoor assignments will result in the employee working in weather conditions of this geographic area. Safety equipment will be worn regularly.

    The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position:  $21.00-$24.00 hourly
