Job Summary
My client, Legacy Internal Medicine, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team through our lab partner, Quest Diagnositics. In this vital role, you will perform blood collection procedures with precision and care, ensuring patient comfort and safety while maintaining the highest standards of laboratory practice. Your expertise will support accurate diagnostic testing and contribute to effective patient care. Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and other approved techniques, ensuring proper identification and labeling of samples.
- Prepare and process specimens according to laboratory protocols, maintaining sample integrity throughout handling and transport.
- Assist in obtaining vital signs and relevant patient information to support accurate testing procedures.
- Follow aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile environment during specimen collection to prevent contamination.
- Provide compassionate patient service by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring a comfortable experience.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures performed, including specimen details and patient information.
- Adhere to all laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and medical terminology standards to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Prior experience or training in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and blood sampling methods such as venipuncture is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy with skill and confidence in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, specimen collection/processing, and aseptic technique practices.
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on providing friendly, professional service during blood draws and related procedures.
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement and basic hospital experience is advantageous.
