Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join our culinary team at our esteemed establishment in Morton Grove, IL. The Cook will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of high-quality meals in accordance with the standards and guidelines set by the Morton Grove Health Department and our organization. The ideal candidate must possess a strong passion for culinary arts, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes, following recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards as outlined by the Morton Grove Health Department.
Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients by inspecting and selecting them from approved vendors.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines, including proper food storage and handling practices.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop and refine menu offerings, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, seasonal availability, and customer preferences.
Monitor food inventory levels, anticipate supply needs, and place orders to replenish stock as necessary.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring its proper functionality and promptly reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
Assist in the training and mentoring of new kitchen staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to food production, including recipe modifications, temperature logs, and HACCP records.
Adapt to changing demands and prioritize tasks effectively to meet customer expectations and ensure timely service during peak hours.
Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to address customer inquiries, accommodate special requests, and ensure a positive dining experience.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Cook in a professional kitchen environment, preferably in a similar establishment or restaurant.
In-depth knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary terminology, and kitchen equipment usage.
Familiarity with Morton Grove Health Department regulations and ability to comply with all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with kitchen staff, management, and front-of-house personnel.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the operation's needs.
Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
