About
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk for our Chicago, Illinois location. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the timely and accurate dispatch of all outgoing shipments. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, verifying shipment details, and maintaining accurate shipping records. A strong understanding of logistics and shipping procedures is essential. You will work closely with warehouse staff to ensure all orders are processed efficiently and correctly. Safety is a top priority; we provide all necessary PPE and expect rigorous adherence to our safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all outgoing shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Verify shipping information against orders to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Schedule shipments and track their progress.
- Inspect outgoing packages for proper packaging and labeling.
- Maintain accurate and organized shipping records, both physical and digital.
- Communicate with internal departments and external customers regarding shipment status.
- Operate shipping dock equipment as required.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks when necessary.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the warehouse logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and common carrier systems.
- Strong understanding of shipping procedures and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with safe lifting practices and warehouse safety.
- Mandatory use of provided PPE.
