About the opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Human Resource Officer to join our dynamic People and Culture team on a permanent, full-time basis.

An ideal candidate will support the delivery of high-quality, proactive, and efficient employee services in alignment with the Council's strategic direction. This role is for someone with a strong HR foundation who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advice to employees and managers on policies, procedures, and employment matters, escalating complex matters where required
  • Supporting recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HRIS data
  • Supporting learning, development, and engagement activities.
  • Qualifications and experience

    Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field - Diploma or above
  • Solid experience in human resources, recruitment and employee relations
  • Demonstrated well developed communication and interpersonal skills, sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary human resource practices and current issues
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate systems and applications
  • Ability work within a small, dynamic and fast-paced team environment
  • Availability to work flexible working hours
  • Current class C driver's licence.
  • Desirable: 

  • A sound knowledge of Commonwealth, State and Local Government Legislation impacting on HR, recruitment and employee relations.

    The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,790.59 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
