About
We are seeking a certified and experienced Forklift Operator for our vital distribution center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role is fundamental to our daily logistics operations, focusing on the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the warehouse. You will operate forklifts to handle inbound and outbound shipments, manage inventory placement, and support order picking and fulfillment processes. A deep understanding of forklift safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a secure work environment are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate various types of forklifts to move, load, unload, and stack merchandise.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report any defects or maintenance needs immediately.
- Transport goods to and from receiving, storage, and shipping areas.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by moving stock and confirming locations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA guidelines.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment and mandatory wearing of PPE.
- Work collaboratively with other warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure efficient logistics flow.
- Identify and report any potential safety hazards in the workplace.
- Support overall warehouse operations by performing other duties as assigned.
- Valid forklift certification with a minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a warehouse or distribution center.
- Proficiency in operating sit-down, stand-up, and reach-truck forklifts.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse safety best practices and logistics operations.
- Must be able to work in varying warehouse conditions and wear required PPE.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
