Position Summary
The Laboratory Assistant-Temporary within the Feik School of Pharmacy (FSOP) is responsible for supporting laboratory-related activities as assigned in the Doctor of Pharmacy, the master's program, and pharmacy camps and recruitment. The Laboratory assistant will work closely with the Laboratory manager, faculty, and researchers in the teaching and research laboratories. The Laboratory Assistant -Temporary reports to the Assistant Dean & Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
This is a temporary, part-time position for the period of 01/16/2026 to 04/30/2026.

Essential Duties
Description of Job Duties
- Sets up and breaks down teaching labs.
- Prepares reagents and solutions as needed.
- Washes, sterilizes, and returns glassware to appropriate location or individuals.
- Helps to maintain clean laboratory and research spaces; identifies chemical waste for processing and notifies Risk & Safety Office for pickup.
- Ensures observance of safety procedures in teaching and research labs and maintains records of safety training.
- Assists in inventory of supplies and identifies items for purchase.
- Orders, receives, and stores supplies and chemicals and informs about order status.
- Performs routine operations to keep laboratory equipment in good working condition.
- Assists in minor troubleshooting of equipment and calls for repairs when needed.
- Assists faculty in laboratory teaching.
- Documents information, maintains logs, and equipment record books.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborative work with laboratory manager, administrators, faculty, staff, and peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
- Ability to acquire new knowledge and skills.
- Ability to follow directions on a technical manual.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Associate Degree in a science-related field with with required laboratory coursework from an accredited institution.
Required Work Experience
None.
Preferred Qualifications
BS in Chemistry, Biology, or health-related major.

Work Hours
20 hours assigned per week with flexibility within the schedule of Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs of laboratory materials.
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve laboratory materials, as well as regularly use stepladder for materials retrieval.
- Fine motor skills for the appropriate handling of minute amounts of lab samples.
- Near-vision acuity needed for lab work.
- Possess depth perception, field of vision and color vision to assess chemicals and reactions.
- Must have good hearing to hear lab safety alarms and sirens.
