Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support licensed physical therapists in providing high-quality patient care across various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and patients recovering from surgery or injury. The PTA will play a vital role in implementing treatment plans, assisting with discharge planning, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes through skilled interventions.
Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to patient needs.
- Administer therapeutic interventions such as trigger point therapy, manual therapy techniques, and modalities to promote recovery.
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately, adjusting treatment approaches as directed by the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, mobility techniques, and injury prevention strategies.
- Support patients across various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units.
- Participate in discharge planning by assessing patient progress and providing recommendations for ongoing care or home modifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment adhering to all safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal recovery outcomes.
Experience
- Prior experience in outpatient clinics or inpatient settings is preferred; experience in skilled nursing facilities or home health is a plus.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy principles is essential.
- Experience working with orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, or acute care patients is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with discharge planning processes and working within multidisciplinary teams enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Candidates should possess strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care to foster positive therapeutic relationships.
