Security Training Instructor

Overview

Provide AVADE Program instruction to Dartmouth Health staff as part of the Workplace Violence Prevention program. Also assists the Program Training Leader in delivering security specific training to Security staff.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with other instructors and Program/Training Leader to organize and conduct training.

• Maintain paperwork for each class being held by instructor to be turned over to Program/Training Leader.

• Work with staff on a regular basis to answer questions and refresh techniques as necessary.

• Works with the Program/Training Leader to provide Security specific training to Security staff to include, but not limited to, handcuffing, Taser and OC gel.

• Actively participate in after class briefings to continually develop the efficiency of the training program.

• Presents on safety and security related topics to Dartmouth Health System staff when requested.

• Attend occasional meeting either in person or virtually.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior Security or Law Enforcement experience required.
• Prior experience delivering training in a healthcare, law enforcement or security environment preferred.
• Must be AVADE Advanced Instructor certified or become certified before actively training classes.
• Must be a certified instructor in handcuffing, Taser and OC gel or become certified before actively training classes.
• Must be motivated to teach, to facilitate learning and ensure that students acquire the skills necessary to successful course completion.
• The ability to work effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill desired

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Certification to be an instructor in the AVADE program or can be certified prior to first training class - Handcuffing Instructor, Taser Instructor, OC Gel Instructor - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H's Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
