About

We are looking for an experienced 
Assistant Retail Manager
 to ensuring both the operational excellence and customer experience of the dispensary. This includes overseeing day-to-day store operations, leading retail staff, ensuring compliance, and upholding Native Sun's commitment to hospitality, safety, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service and leadership skills, a problem-solving attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance day-to-day operational precision with a welcoming and educational retail experience.

Customer Experience & Hospitality

  • Lead by example to uphold Native Sun's hospitality and service standards.
  • Interact with, educate, and advise customers face-to-face and by phone.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for guest concerns and inquiries.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve guest experience and satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain community relationships to promote the brand and local engagement.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador during and outside of scheduled work hours.
  • Oversee daily dispensary operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain product inventory and cash management systems.
  • Ensure first-in, first-out operations for all inventory and supplies.
  • Ensure that store operations align with company values and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate and improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Evaluate and improve hospitality processes, training, and best practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing and senior management to optimize store performance.
  • Conduct regular quality control and monitor KPIs.
  • Assist with store supply purchasing, inventorying, and receiving.

Team Leadership

  • Train and develop retail staff to deliver exceptional service.
  • Schedule, assign, and oversee day-to-day duties of team members.
  • Model professionalism and composure during high-volume or stressful periods.
  • Address employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism, seeking GM or HR guidance when necessary.
  • Encourage staff engagement, accountability, and growth.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure all activities remain legally compliant and aligned with company policies.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records for inventory, transactions, and reporting.
  • Oversee daily and weekly cash handling, including deposits and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with the operations, administrative, and executive teams to ensure precise data flow and reporting.
  • Report incidents, feedback, and operational challenges promptly to the General Manager or Department Leader.

Facility Management

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment inside and outside the facility.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and coordinate resolutions.
  • Uphold all health, safety, and security protocols.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dispensary General Manager or Executive Leadership.
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude and strong work ethic focused on long-term company goals.

Qualifications – Experience and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years' experience in a fast-paced, client-service intensive industry (hospitality and retail experience strongly preferred).
  • 2+ years' experience in a team lead or similar leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leadership, accountability, and progressive responsibility.
  • Proficient with POS systems, Microsoft Word and Excel, and standard office equipment.
  • Strong understanding of compliance within regulated environments.
  • Skilled in accurate inventory control and cash management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including customer and employee engagement.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times.
  • Familiarity with cannabis products and culture preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
