Core Ecology Group (CEG) is expanding our environmental services division and seeking an experienced Environmental Business Development Manager to lead strategic growth across reforestation, habitat restoration, invasive species management, crop tree release, and ecological land-management services. This role is designed for a seasoned professional with industry experience, strong sales discipline, and the ability to represent CEG's capabilities with confidence.
Position Overview
The Environmental Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business, strengthening partnerships, and shaping the long-term sales and marketing direction for our environmental service lines. The role blends strategic planning, field exposure, marketing development, and leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate works independently, communicates professionally, and has a strong understanding of environmental service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts across environmental services including reforestation, habitat enhancement, crop tree release, invasive species control, and ecological contracting.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy aligned with annual revenue goals.
- Manage the marketing and sales budget, ensuring responsible and effective allocation of resources.
- Create clean, professional marketing materials using Canva or by coordinating with contracted third-party design firms.
- Travel regularly to meet prospective clients, attend conventions, engage with industry events, and conduct on-site assessments.
- Manage interns and future marketing/sales team members, providing structure, training, and leadership.
- Participate in periodic field work with CEG's ecology team to understand project scopes, methodologies, and client deliverables.
- Consistently achieve sales quotas through disciplined pipeline management and outreach.
- Maintain detailed reporting on sales performance, forecasting, client activity, and marketing ROI.
- Operate independently, managing time and priorities with minimal oversight.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resources, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental services, ecological restoration, forestry, land management, or environmental contracting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building reports, tracking budgets, and analyzing sales or project data.
- Proven track record in sales, business development, or client acquisition within the environmental or natural resources sectors.
- Technical understanding of ecological project scopes, pricing, and field operations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak effectively to landowners, foresters, government agencies, and environmental partners.
- Ability to produce professional marketing materials and manage brand alignment.
- Comfortable with regular regional travel.
- Strong independent work ethic and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with foresters, conservation groups, environmental contractors, or agencies (NRCS, DNR, USFWS, etc.).
- Experience preparing proposals, responding to RFQs/RFPs, or working within cost-share programs.
- Familiarity with environmental marketing and professional association engagement.
Pay: $95, $115,000.00 per year
