About
The Senior Payroll/HRIS Administrator will oversee payroll operations and HRIS system management for the organization primarily based in California. This role combines payroll management with HRIS system optimization to ensure efficient, accurate operations and excellent employee experience. The Senior Payroll/HRIS Administrator ensures accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Areas of Impact:
- Lead end-to-end multi-state payroll processing with primary focus on California
- Manage and optimize Payroll and HRIS platform functionality and integration
- Ensure 100% compliance with state and federal regulations
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll & HRIS efficiency
- Partner with Finance, HR, and IT departments on system integrations and reporting
Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing for 600+ employees
- Manage all payroll tax filings, garnishments, special payments and payroll record keeping requirements
- Ensure accurate payroll processing of California-specific requirements including:
- Meal and rest break premiums
- Overtime calculations
- Paid Time Off leave accruals
- Final pay requirements
- Lead year-end processes including W-2 preparation, distribution and auditing.
- Develop and document payroll procedures and provide guidance on complex payroll issues
- Monitor and analyze payroll metrics and conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Responsible for compliance reporting and yearly audits
HRIS Administration
- Serve as primary system administrator for HRIS platform
- Manage user access, security, and system configurations
- Design and implement workflow automations
- Create and maintain custom reports and dashboards
- Lead system upgrades and enhancement projects
- Provide training and support for HRIS users

Requirements:
- Technical Excellence & Knowledge
- 5+ years of payroll management experience
- Experience with major HRIS/Payroll systems, preferably with ADP
- Deep understanding of California wage and hour laws and multi-state payroll regulations, demonstrated through practical application
- History of implementing process improvements and automation solutions
- Strong audit trail management and compliance documentation practices
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Salary:
Starting compensation range $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 annually. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
