Job Summary:

Expected to be knowledgeable, compliant and supportive of WellStar's Vision, Mission and Credo. Functions under the direction of the Executive Director/Director of the Environmental Services Department to ensure the cleanliness of WellStar facilities. Planning, organizing, scheduling and supervising department activities carried out on each shift. Responsible for leading or participating in the training programs for new hires as well as ongoing yearly competency determined by facility departmental structure. Provides input and collaboration with the department budget and expenditures. Will continuously make rounds of the campus to determine special assignments and/or project work it needs, to ensure all employees are completing all daily work assignments and are complying with all WellStar and department policies and practices. Responsible for staff evaluations, interviewing, training, developing and disciplinary actions. Assists the Executive Director or Director in the operation of the department. Mentor and develop direct reports and other employees for potential departmental advancement. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Manage department human resources by:

  • Coordinates and assists with the interviewing/hiring process.
  • Determines qualifications, competence and performance expectations.
  • Coordinates and conducts disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinates and conducts reviews, one-on-one, and recognition activities.
  • Implementing and monitoring staffing plans.
  • Validates staff competencies.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing; not to exceed allocations; maintain productivity standards.
  • Proper labor management oversight and time keeping approval

Quality:

  • Continuously assess and improve the departments performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvements, supports department PI projects and participates in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI projects and activities.
  • Ensure quality is up to WellStar Health System standards.
  • Facility inspections
  • Round for compliance with TJC, DOT, OSHA & state and local fire regulations.

Leadership:

  • Provides strong support and effective leadership by coordinating and integrating services within department, with other departments and with the hospitals primary function while managing the day to day activities of the EVS team.
  • Information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement.
  • Supporting operational processes and policies.
  • Monitor and analyzing performance through training, implementing sustainable performance improvement, supports department PI projects and participate in multi-disciplinary/inter-departmental projects and activities.
  • Represent department in hospital multidisciplinary meetings and activities.
  • Provides proper and timely responses to customers.
  • Assist in budget development and oversight not exceeding budget allowances.

Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:
  • High School Diploma Other or GED Other or Bachelors Other-Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years of leadership in Environmental services in a healthcare, hospitality or commercial environment.

Management/supervisory skills; knowledge of healthcare cleaning procedures, floor care and hazardous waste procedures; computer knowledge and skills; must have excellent communication and people skills. High
