About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data infrastructure that underpins our AI-powered decision-making and risk assessment platform. Your expertise will enable the seamless integration of diverse data sources, the creation of scalable data pipelines, and the optimization of data storage solutions to support real-time analytics and machine learning models. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and product managers, to deliver secure, high-performance data solutions that drive our mission forward. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence how modern finance detects fraud and manages risk through innovative data engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of designing and operating production ETL/ELT pipelines for high-volume, real-time analytics platforms.
  • Deep proficiency with ClickHouse, Postgres, Athena, and distributed data systems such as Kafka and cloud-native storage solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; experience with Java is a plus.
  • Expertise in workflow orchestration tools like Airflow and Step Functions, as well as CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks for data workflows.
  • Experience working in high-scale, low-latency environments with a focus on security, privacy, and compliance, especially within financial-grade platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Alignment with Oscilar's core values of customer obsession, radical ownership, bold vision, efficient growth, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement scalable ETL and data pipelines across various platforms including ClickHouse, Postgres, Athena, and cloud-native sources to support real-time risk management and analytics.
  • Design, develop, and optimize distributed data storage solutions ensuring high performance, low latency, and reliability for mission-critical fraud detection and compliance models.
  • Lead schema evolution, data modeling, and performance optimizations such as sharding, partitioning, and pipeline orchestration for both batch and streaming data processes.
  • Manage the end-to-end data flow by integrating multiple internal and external data sources, enforcing data validation and lineage, and automating workflow reliability through monitoring and anomaly detection.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions that enable rapid experimentation and robust deployment of ML/AI models.
  • Promote a culture of ownership by identifying opportunities for technical and process improvements, proposing innovative solutions, and implementing best practices.
  • Mentor team members, foster a collaborative learning environment, and contribute to the overall growth of the data engineering team.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity packages, including a 401k plan.
  • Remote-first work environment allowing flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance fully covered by the employer for employees and dependents (US).
  • Unlimited paid time off to promote work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to work in a cutting-edge AI-first company with a strong engineering focus.
  • Family-friendly culture with regular team events and offsites.
  • Access to unparalleled professional development and learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to impactful projects that enhance online transaction security and trust.
