Children's Program Coordinator

Circles of Troup County exists to identify and eliminate the causes of poverty and support those wishing to lift themselves out of poverty. We use a relational strategy to support both parents and children moving out of poverty while inspiring and equipping the community to reduce its poverty rate. The proposed VISTA project aligns with the economic opportunity focus area. The VISTA project will build sustainability through developing curriculum for weekly children's meeting, volunteer support and recruitment. The VISTA project expects to benefit circles participants, including children, as well as at least 500 community members through poverty education and awareness.

Member Duties : The VISTA will create and improve processes for volunteers who work with both adults and children. This includes developing a system for the volunteer life cycle (planning, recruitment, training, management, retention and recognition.) The VISTA will also develop a comprehensive youth program that complements the skills the adults (parents) are developing. The VISTA will research best practices, create partnerships and build tools/templates, then recruit and train volunteers to lead the youth program. The VISTA will learn valuable skills in program development, recruitment, outreach and relationship management and will gain firsthand experience in project management at an established small non-profit organization.
