Our client is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their Chicago office and support the Aviation and Aerospace Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have experience in general civil, personal injury, and product liability litigation. This role involves researching law, investigating facts, and preparing documents for attorneys according to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage case files from inception through mediation, arbitration, trial, and settlement.
  • Prepare subpoenas for depositions and document productions.
  • Draft initial discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
  • Prepare draft responses to discovery, including document productions and privilege logs.
  • Assist attorneys with deposition preparation.
  • Research, vet, and engage subject matter experts.
  • E-file documents in State and Federal Court systems.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely responses.
  • Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, fact/medical chronologies, agreements, and trial or mediation binders.
  • Investigate facts as requested by attorneys.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, subpoenas, witness management, scheduling testimony, and trial presentations.
  • Attend trial as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous law firm experience required; Am Law 200, leading regional, or major boutique firm experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of general civil litigation experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, LexisNexis, PACER, Relativity, Sanction, TrialPad, and iManage.
  • E-filing experience in State and Federal Court systems.
  • Strong writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in aviation/aerospace litigation.
  • Familiarity with exhibit manipulation software such as Sanction, Trial Director, TrialPad, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with trial preparation and attendance, including organization of witness materials and exhibits.
  • Knowledge of complex litigation processes.
