Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist I will provide direct patient care for assessing and treating communication (i.e. speech/language), oral motor, and feeding/swallowing disorders: administering department and program functions; supervising speech language pathologist at various levels: maintaining documentation relative to services offered: and participating in intra and interdisciplinary training programs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide functional communication (i.e., speech/language), oral motor, and feeding/swallowing assessment or treatment, with consideration to patients and families' needs and interest.
  • Supervise graduate students.
  • Maintain documentation consistent with Institute and Department expectations for all activities, as well as guidelines by The Joint Commission, CARF and ASHA.
  • Participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities relative to patient care (e.g., team conferences) and professional training (e.g., staff development activities).
  • Maintain appropriate professional affiliations for state and national licensure/certification as well as following standards set forth by the Institute and the Program.
  • Participate in departmental activities and outreach activities in the community (e.g., presentations, service on committees).
  • Assist supervisor in setting and implementing goals for professional growth and development.
  • Qualifications
    • Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology granted by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
    • Eligible for Maryland State Licensure in Speech Language Pathology.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Must have experience working with children who have severe communication disorders, experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
    Minimum pay range USD $70,000.00/Yr.
    Maximum pay range USD $106,245.00/Yr.
