About
Role Overview
The Engineering & Manufacturing Coordinator supports estimating, engineering, and business development activities across Big Rocks Engineering's portfolio of manufacturing facilities. This entry-level role is designed for someone with strong mechanical curiosity and an interest in engineering, manufacturing, and business growth.
The position provides hands-on exposure to quoting, manufacturing processes, supplier coordination, and basic CAD work, with a clear development path into advanced technical or leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities
Quoting & Estimating Support
· Assist with preparation and organization of quote packages
· Help route components to the appropriate manufacturing facility
· Track quote status, revisions, and follow-ups
· Learn cost drivers, lead times, and manufacturability considerations
Manufacturing Coordination
· Support coordination of quotes spanning multiple facilities
· Communicate with plant contacts to gather technical clarifications and lead times
· Maintain reference documents for internal manufacturing capabilities
Supplier & Outside Processing Support
· Assist in identifying suppliers for outside processes
· Request, track, and organize supplier quotes
· Maintain supplier pricing and lead-time records
Engineering & CAD Assistance
· Support basic CAD tasks such as drawing updates and simple part modeling
· Assist with BOM creation and technical documentation
· Shadow engineers during design and manufacturability reviews
Research & Continuous Improvement
· Assist with research related to government contracting opportunities
· Support documentation for proposals and compliance requirements
· Participate in new product brainstorming and improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
· High school diploma or associate degree (technical focus preferred)
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
· Proficiency with basic computer tools (Excel, email, file management)
Preferred (Not Required)
· Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
· Trade school, community college, or hands-on manufacturing experience
· Internship, co-op, or shop floor experience
