Are you a detail-oriented professional with experience in logistics and shipping? Our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility is looking for a reliable Shipping Clerk to manage outbound shipments. This role is integral to ensuring our products reach customers efficiently and accurately. You will be responsible for preparing, documenting, and dispatching all outgoing orders, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining shipping records. A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence is paramount. We expect candidates to be proactive in identifying and resolving issues that may impact delivery timelines. Your contribution will directly impact customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
- Package items securely for shipment, ensuring they meet carrier requirements.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Verify outgoing shipments against customer orders and internal records.
- Operate shipping equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and update the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Inspect outgoing goods for quality and accuracy before dispatch.
- Ensure the shipping area is clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Communicate with sales, customer service, and other departments regarding shipment status.
- Adhere to all company safety guidelines, including the mandatory use of appropriate PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures and documentation.
- Proficiency with computers and WMS software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Physical capability for lifting items up to 40 pounds.
- Understanding of safety protocols in a warehouse environment.
- Strong communication skills.
