Job Title:  Student Support Mentor
Location:  The Grange Therapeutic School, Knossington, Oakham LE15 8LY
Salary:  £22,160.62 per annum (£13.25 per hour) ( not pro rata )
Hours:  37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Rota: Monday 8.30am – 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start Date:  March 2026

About the Role

Join The Grange Therapeutic School, part of Acorn Education, and make a real difference in the lives of children and young people. Based in a beautiful Victorian country house in Leicestershire, our specialist SEMH provision supports pupils’ educational, social, and emotional development. As a Student Support Mentor, you will work closely with our pupils, both inside and outside the classroom, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe, nurturing, and personalised environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and activities that meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and confidence
  • Implement and contribute to individualised plans and strategies, including behaviour support plans
  • Supervise and mentor pupils during classroom activities, break times, and outdoor learning experiences
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all pupils
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider multi-disciplinary team

About You

You will have:

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience working with children in an educational, care, or support setting (highly desirable)
  • A commitment to learning, with full training and ongoing professional development provided

The Grange Therapeutic School is an independent school for students aged 8 -18 years with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Our school is based in a Victorian country house near Oakham with stunning views and fantastic facilities to develop not only the educational, but also the social and emotional needs of our pupils.
