The Benefits & HRIS Manager plays a critical role in creating a positive and rewarding employee experience by overseeing the administration, analysis, and management of our benefits programs and HR information systems (HRIS). This position ensures team members have access to valuable benefits that support their wellbeing, while also leveraging efficient, user-friendly HR technology to streamline processes and improve workplace satisfaction.
In addition, the Benefits & HRIS Manager is instrumental in maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards, safeguarding the organization and its employees. By aligning innovative benefit offerings and reliable HR systems with Catalyst Family Inc.'s strategic goals, this role contributes directly to fostering a supportive environment that attracts, engages, and retains exceptional talent dedicated to serving children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the administration and management of Catalyst Family Inc.'s comprehensive employee health and welfare programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), workers' compensation, COBRA, leave of absence, and 401(k), ensuring programs support employee wellbeing and organizational goals.
  • Supervision of the Benefits and HRIS team including hiring, training, disciplining, and directing the work of the team.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Benefits & HRIS to coordinate the annual plan renewal process, including analyzing program costs, evaluating benefit designs, reviewing data requirements, and developing clear employee communications. Regularly assess vendor performance, initiating remarketing as needed to maximize value.
  • Support Catalyst's retirement plans and related vendor partnerships closely with the Director of Benefits and HRIS.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and ease-of-use. Work collaboratively with HRIS team members to support Onboarding, Recruiting, Document Manager and HR Help modules.
  • Direct and maintain daily and monthly HRIS operations, addressing and resolving system issues promptly. Ensure data integrity through routine audits, promoting seamless user experience and reliable reporting capabilities.
  • Manage support ticket system for the HRIS operations and manage upgrades.
  • Manage leave administration processes and associated vendor relationships, consistently monitoring and refining procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and effective employee communication. Partner closely with the Benefits team to enhance service quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Supervise workers' compensation processes and vendor relationships, regularly reviewing and analyzing claim data with internal and external partners. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance safety, streamline processes, and improve communication strategies to minimize risks and support employee recovery.
  • Serve as an approachable and knowledgeable resource to employees, assisting with benefit plan details, eligibility questions, and resolving benefit-related issues promptly and compassionately.
  • Maintain compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other relevant federal and state regulations, ensuring all benefits practices adhere strictly to legal standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate regular reconciliation of benefits-related financial data between Human Resources and Finance departments on a bi-weekly and monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and consistency in reporting and budgeting.
  • Provide strategic leadership, clear direction, and ongoing support to the Benefits and HRIS team, fostering professional growth, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Continuously monitor evolving state and federal laws and regulations, proactively implementing necessary adjustments to maintain full compliance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, contributing actively to broader HR objectives and organizational initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related field.
  • 5 or more years of related experience in a Benefits, HRIS and/or HR leadership role.
  • UKG and Plan Source experience.
  • Experience in managing others.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PHR Certification or equivalent Human Resources certification.

Key Competencies:
  • Experience with HRIS systems and benefit administration platforms, preferably UKG, PlanSource.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits, including retirement and health & welfare plans.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. federal and state regulations (ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, PFL) related to benefits compliance and reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effectively managing projects, meeting deadlines, and independently prioritizing tasks.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities with proven success in managing both short-term tasks and long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; capable of clearly articulating proposals and effectively engaging stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams, consistently demonstrating initiative, sound decision-making, and accountability.
  • Maintains high ethical standards, professionalism, and leadership qualities.
  • Prior experience in a multi-site, non-profit environment is preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Generally pleasant working conditions.
  • Less than 50% of daily assignments involve prolonged physical effort.
  • Travel: Up to 10%

Shift Type: Full Time, Exempt, Hybrid (3 days in office)
Compensation: $110,806 - $166,210 annually
