ACTIVITY DIRECTOR
SUMMARY:
The Activity Director provides an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
- Develop and plan activities including, but not limited to:
- Group social activities
- Spiritual programs and attendance at houses of worship
- Opportunities for resident involvement in planning and implementing activities
- Creative activities such as arts, crafts, music, drama, and educational programs
- Exercise activities
- Activities that promote facility and community interaction
- Prepare, plan, and coordinate a monthly calendar of activities
- Provide oversight and direction to Activity Aides
- Train and supervise volunteers when appropriate
- Assess resident needs and develop resident activity goals for the written care plan
- Encourage resident participation in activities and document appropriately
- Review resident goals and progress notes
- Complete and document MDS reports and progress notes accurately
- Participate with the Administrator in developing the activity budget, including creatively sourcing funds
- Foster relationships with family members and community partners to support Activity Department programs
- Attend care plan meetings, QAPI meetings, and department head meetings as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of a certified Activity Director training course
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a social or recreational program
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and walk; must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
