Overview
Eastwood Personal Care Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live more independently teaching life skills and providing support while ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community care environments. Your commitment to patient care and ability to assist with daily living activities will be crucial in helping our clients achieve their personal goals and see that their needs are met accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure safety and well-being.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual client needs and preferences.
- Support clients in social interactions and community involvement to promote independence.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that enhance their quality of life, including memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia.
- Document client progress and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and family members regarding changes in condition or behavior.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is essential; certification is a plus.
- Previous experience in group homes, nursing homes, or hospice care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and vital signs assessment is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed to assist clients with mobility challenges.
- A background in caregiving or social work is advantageous for understanding client needs.

Pay: $ $19.00 per hour
