As our workload continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Shop Supervisor to lead our crew and keep operations running smoothly.

Position Overview

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all shop operations, leading, and managing welders and fabricators, coordinating, and overseeing projects, and ensuring all work meets the highest quality and safety standards. This includes supervising the fabrication of sanitary tanks, pressure vessels, and various other equipment used across a wide range of industries. The Shop Supervisor ensures that welding processes comply with all applicable quality and regulatory requirements—including FDA, GMP, ASME, and other industry standards. Responsibilities include training and developing welding personnel, maintaining high performance and productivity throughout the shop, and ensuring projects are executed accurately and on schedule. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and hands-on expertise in welding and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor welders, fabricators, and shop personnel.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign daily work based on job priorities and projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Oversee fabrication, fitting, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and craftsmanship.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
  • Coordinate with production managers, engineering, and customers as needed.
  • Monitor inventory, materials, and equipment readiness.
  • Quality control, troubleshoot issues and keep projects on schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in welding/fabrication; 2+ years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Solid understanding of shop equipment and manufacturing workflows.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and communicate effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications (ASME, etc.)
  • Experience with TIG, MIG, CNC equipment, brake press, or machining
  • Project coordination/production scheduling experience
