Intern, Procurement (Operations)
This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11,
2026, until August 28, 2026.
Job Summary
The Intern, Procurement Agent is responsible for working
closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop business
opportunities and risk mitigation strategies. The role supports the Procurement
Center of Excellence (COE) team in their day-to-day activities by taking part
in the Purchase to Pay (P2P) process, improving data records, and developing
reporting tools. The Procurement COE is a team of 37 enthusiastic and energetic
employees who continuously strive to empower the organization to meet
challenges head-on and have a passion to excel. The team handles tactical
sourcing activities and is accountable for the P2P process including ensuring CN
receives products and services efficiently and effectively. Selected projects
provide the opportunity to learn and gain experience while contributing to Procurement
and Supply Management (P&SM) results.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform process reviews and identify improvement opportunities, particularly within the Purchase to Pay (P2P) cycle
- Review and support in the operationalization of the customs Temporary Import Bonds process
- Support in building key reports to help drive decision-making
- Identify inefficiencies, manual bottlenecks, and data quality issues that could benefit from AI-driven solutions
- Document findings and recommendations
- Participate in the execution of selected initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency and effectiveness
Requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)
- Apply analytical thinking and solve problems
- Time management
- Communicate with impact both orally and written
- Strong ability to collaborate and share timely information with and across functions to get things done effectively
Education
- Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent*
*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these
above would be considered as an asset
