The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineering Lead to join our organization and lead a team of engineers at the Oshawa Assembly plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in automotive manufacturing and related systems, combined with exceptional problem solving and project management skills. This role is well suited to someone who has natural leadership aptitude, experience working with cross functional teams and managing technical challenges.

As the Manufacturing Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for directing and developing a team of talented automotive professionals, providing technical guidance and oversight on multiple projects as well as lending support on equipment failures. You will work cross-functionally with your peers and partners in Production, Manufacturing Optimization, Vehicle Systems and Sustainable Workplaces. We are looking for an innovative continuous learner and collaborative problem solver who is driven to meet plant goals and improve our processes.
Core Responsibilities
Foster a proactive safety culture by engaging all team members and promoting a safe work environment.
Engage in all aspects of talent development and performance management (recruiting, mentorship, career development, succession planning). Establish a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, facilities, sustainable workplaces, finance, vehicle systems and others to drive successful execution of plant goals and project deliverables.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, understanding their needs and requirements to deliver tailored solutions.
Achieve Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost and Environmental goals
Manage budget performance in accordance with your plant and department goals and cost council initiatives, continuously seeking ways to generate savings and reduce costs.
Provide project management oversight on work being performed by contractors, ensuring adherence to safety standards and project specifications.
Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Post secondary degree or diploma in a technical field.
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in a supervisory and/or engineering role
Experience in leading and managing technical teams (direct or indirect).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into a plan for action.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Experience in project management, including planning, execution, budgeting and resource management.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with a desire to push the boundaries of manufacturing technology.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
5+ years automotive experience in a unionized environment
People Leader experience
GMS training and/or experience with Lean Manufacturing
Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
Experience with Safety Contract Management (SCM)
Experience with PLC controls
Experience with GCCH, GCCS & GDHS standards and processes
Experience with advanced analytics
Team Center familiarity
Familiar with Capital/Non Portfolio Project planning, execution and forecasting
Problem-solving certification (RedX, OpEx, DFSS, Design Thinking)
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $97,800.00 to $146, The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
