- POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provides engineering technical support to drive continuous improvement of processes to the manufacturing operation with primary responsibility for ensuring safety, quality and effective operation of production processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors and improves the efficiency, safety and quality of manufacturing processes through observation and measurements as well as by analyzing and trending OEE (overall equipment efficiency) data
- Performs business analysis for Capital Expenditures
- Prepares costing estimates for new or acquired products and evaluates current costing and routings for accuracy
- Evaluates, monitors and schedules equipment for preventative maintenance to improve reliability
- Recommend standards for all products and responsible for updating Product Change Requests (PCR) and
- Engineering Change Request (ECR) following applicable processes
- Evaluates new and alternate materials for cost savings and quality improvement opportunities
- Responsible for preparing and managing assigned budgets
- Performs cycle counts on materials and evaluation of variances for root cause and corrective action
- Evaluates all new parts to ensure they meet all product standards
- Conducts training on processes and provides guidance to production and maintenance technicians
- Actively participates in Hopkins Safety Programs, such as Safety and PIE Help Desks, Behavior Based Safety
- Audits, Safe Work Cards, and reports all near miss and first aid events
- Promotes and maintains 6S principles throughout the facility
- Designing and planning equipment layout
- Conducting tests and monitoring the process performance throughout production
- Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes
- Developing best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates, quality of output and product reliability
Documenting all created processes and updating and maintaining these documents as changes occur
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree, or five to seven years' experience, or an equivalent combination required, plastic technology emphasis preferred
Education/experience with root cause analysis, statistical process control, lean concept principles and other analytical tools required
COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
Accuracy to detail and ability to work with others as a team critical
- Hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical aptitude preferred
- Excellent computer literacy, Microsoft Office products required
- AutoCAD and working knowledge of SPC prefer
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Certification on some Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) from the company will be required
