About

*Senior Program Manager – Defense & Prime Contracts*
*Location:* On-site
*Company:* Core Systems
*Industry:* Defense, Aerospace, Rugged Computing & Electronics Manufacturing
Core Systems is a U.S.-based computer systems manufacturer supporting *prime defense contractors* including *Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics*, and related government programs. We design, build, and deliver mission-critical hardware for demanding military environments.
We are seeking a *Senior Program Manager* to *own programs from start to finish*—from initial contract award through PDR, CDR, FAI, production, delivery, and closeout. This role is *highly hands-on* and requires direct experience working with *prime contractors and government flow-downs*.
This is *not* a coordination-only or reporting role. You will be deeply involved in technical reviews, manufacturing readiness, supplier coordination, and customer interaction.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Own full program lifecycle from contract award through production and delivery
* Lead and manage *PDR, CDR, FAI, TRR, and production readiness reviews*
* Interface directly with *prime contractors* (e.g., Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman)
* Interpret and execute *EDRLs, SOWs, specifications, and contractual flow-downs*
* Coordinate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test teams
* Manage schedules, risks, cost, and technical performance
* Drive configuration control, BOM management, and design changes
* Ensure compliance with government and prime contractor quality requirements
* Lead customer meetings, design reviews, and status briefings
* Actively resolve issues related to parts availability, manufacturing constraints, and test failures
* Support audits, inspections, and customer site visits as required
*Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)*
* *10+ years* of program management experience in *defense, aerospace, or military electronics*
* *Proven, direct experience* leading programs through *PDR, CDR, and FAI*
* Experience working *directly with prime contractors* (Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, etc.)
* Strong understanding of *hardware development, manufacturing, and assembly*
* Demonstrated experience with:
* Government contracts and flow-downs
* EDRLs and data package deliveries
* Configuration management and change control
* Supplier and subcontractor management
* Ability to work *on-site and hands-on* with engineering and production teams
* Strong technical background (hardware, systems, electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing)
* Excellent communication skills with customers, executives, and internal teams
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Experience with *ruggedized computing, embedded systems, or electronics manufacturing*
* Familiarity with *AS9100 / ISO / MIL-STD environments*
* Experience managing low-to-mid volume, high-complexity defense programs
* Prior experience supporting classified or controlled programs (as applicable)
*What This Role Is NOT*
* Not an entry-level or junior PM role
* Not a purely administrative or reporting position
* Not remote-only
* Not suitable for candidates without real defense / prime contractor experience
*Why Core Systems*
* Direct exposure to *mission-critical defense programs*
* Ownership and authority—*you run the program*
* Small, agile organization with real decision-making power
* Work directly with engineering, manufacturing, and customers
* Competitive compensation based on experience
