Chess After-School Instructor

After-School STEM Instructor (Immediate Hire)

• Pay: $60/class, plus 50 cents per mile if driving more than 20m roundtrip (Each class is 1 hour of teaching + 15 min of prep before and 5-10 min of dismisal).
• Location: CPS - Portage Park Elementary (*5330 W Berteau Ave, Chicago IL 60641)*
• Grade: 1st - 8th
• Dates: January 14, March 11, 2026
• Schedule: every Wednesday from 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM
• Chess knowledge is a plus

• Nexplore Enrichments ( ): is an after-school program. You will be teaching our CHESS program to school-ages children. Curriculum and materials are provided. Please check our website

Qualifications:

• Part-time position.
• Passion for education and fostering the joy of learning in children.
• Experience working with children.
• Educational (development or training) experience.
• Teaching degree or certificate is a PLUS
• Must commit to the full proposed schedule.
• Great communication and presentation skills.

Requirements

• Reliable transportation.
• Willing to complete a background check and fingerprints.
• Willing to complete mandatory training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children in various activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Develop and implement educational and recreational programs tailored to children's interests and needs.
• Foster positive relationships with students, promoting effective communication and behavior management.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress, while collaborating with parents and staff to support each child's development.
• Administer first aid when necessary and uphold safety standards at all times.
