The Opportunity

Our Resources subsector, a key component of WSP's ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. Over the decades, we have developed a wide range of services, including economic studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, commissioning and industrial programming. This division provides a full range of services to industrial, metal and mining projects, including all services offered in the field of engineering from conceptual and feasibility studies to complete detailed engineering in EPCM, to the closure and dismantling of mine sites.  Our experts work together to offer our clients services that live up to our vision: to meet the highest standards in the industry and innovate to exceed them. 

To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a licensed Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team located in St.John's Newfoundland.

Contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects within the ERI Resources group, the ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and a track record of successful project delivery. As a Junior/Intermediate Structural Engineer, you will support the design and construction of various complex heavy industrial projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Analysis and design of Steel, and Concrete Structures in heavy industrial and mining projects;
  • Analysis and design of foundation systems;
  • Structural Design and preparation of construction drawings and structural calculations;
  • Visit project sites and perform construction reviews;
  • Interact with clients, design partners, and contractors;
  • Write technical reports and assist in proposal preparations;
  • Support project management, ensuring the projects are delivered on time and within budget.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Professional Engineering License (P.Eng) in Newfoundland;
  • Between 5 to 8 years of structural design experience in consulting engineering firms;
  • Previous experience with industrial projects desired (mining, processing plants, etc.);  
  • Knowledge of CSA design standards, and National/ Provincial Building Codes;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment and adapt to changing project requirements;
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as STAAD-PRO, S-Frame, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.;
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and ideally Revit Structure;
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Possess a valid Full-G driver's license; 
  • Must be able to go to project site as needed.     

Compensation:
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $85,100 – $112,800
MB & ON: $77,700 – $107,000
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $76,900 – $102,100

The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
