About The Role Design Engineer – coordinate and design HI‑FOG® fire suppression systems within clients’ building models, navigating site restraints and other building services. Initially trained by in‑house trainers, the successful candidate will draw, design and integrate the system in clients’ building models. The role requires proactive learning of the product, travelling to sites across the UK for surveys and as‑built work, and also working remotely or from the office under guidance from senior colleagues.
Main Responsibilities
Creation of preliminary sales designs and variation cost using AutoCAD, Excel and Word for costing and quotation.
Liaising with Solution Support to confirm deviations from the standard and receive sign‑off.
Liaising with Clients, Design, Sales and Operation teams to deliver projects on a wider basis.
Produce operational designs for installations with detailed dimensions using Revit and AutoCAD, covering general sprinkler arrangement, plant, riser, section valves, distribution pipework, fixtures/fittings and sprinklers.
Produce technical information: zoning layouts, plant layouts, pump schematic, system schematic, zone valve arrangement, technical submission, interface schedules, cause & effect charts, data sheets, hydraulic calculations, NPSH calculations, assembly of data sheets from the in‑house library and other supporting documents.
Manage selected projects assigned by the design manager and support other projects as required.
Qualifications
Construction‑related education, preferably in Architecture, Building Services or Civil Engineering.
Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP & Revit.
Preferably 5 years of design & modeling experience in a similar scope.
Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Proficiency with MS Office tools, specifically Word and Excel.
Team player and collaborative attitude, able to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
Highly ethical personality and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Solid understanding of buildings or architecture and at least a basic understanding of engineering.
Proactive learning approach, researching and becoming familiar with the system to design in accordance with Design, Operation, Installation and Maintenance Manuals and any other applicable Engineering Statements.
Considered An Advantage
Previous experience in the fire security industry, sprinkler or water mist system design.
Related university/college degree.
