Job Description

We have a
Senior Mechanical Engineer
position open in Orlando, FL. This position is responsible for mechanical engineering on large-scale projects.

Project requirements involve:

  • Mechanical system design from scratch.
  • Analysis/calculations (stress, fatigue, etc.).
  • Acceleration forces and load calculations.
  • Material stress design.
  • Failure and effects analysis & risk assessment.
  • Component selection.
  • Mechanical system installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • System Design:
    Create concepts for mechanical components from a "blank sheet of paper" based on project requirements.
  • 3D Modeling:
    Perform design via 3D modeling software (
    SolidWorks preferred
    ).
  • System Integration:
    Provide input and system modifications for integration with other project disciplines.
  • Vendor Management:
    Manage vendor scope to verify safety, functionality, and contract compliance.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure design complies with local/government agency codes and client standards.
  • Risk Assessment:
    Generate technical risk assessment documents and implement mitigations.
  • Safety Critical Design:
    Design and analysis for safety-critical parts and redundant mitigations to increase reliability.
  • Complex Motion:
    Design systems with complex motion and integration from automated systems.
  • Documentation:
    Develop system configurations, descriptions of operation, analysis reports, and test plans.
  • Pneumatics & Hydraulics:
    Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Field Support:
    Capable of working "off" shifts as needed during installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. (Other disciplines considered only if work experience is directly related to mechanical engineering).
  • Experience:
    10+ years in mechanical engineering roles, with at least 3+ years in design from scratch or major modifications (50%+ redesign).
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Proficient in GD&T for large-scale systems or high duty cycle/fatigue requirements.
  • Standards:
    Experience in
    ASTM standards
    , attractions industry, and safety engineering is preferred.
  • Soft Skills:
    Highly organized, technically competent, and effective in oral/written communications within multi-disciplined environments.
  • Travel:
    Ability to travel up to 30% (typically 10% depending on project phase).
  • Work Environment:
    Expected on client location 5 days a week; must be able to work in diverse industrial/construction environments.
