Mission Ave Bar & Grill – Oceanside, CA

Mission Ave Bar & Grill is a whiskey-forward neighborhood restaurant in downtown Oceanside with a strong local following, a positive team culture, and a growing events and Spirit Society program.

We're hiring a General Manager to own the floor, develop people, and protect the vibe that makes Mission Ave feel like Mission Ave.

This role is not about hiding in an office, running spreadsheets all day, or "fixing" a broken restaurant.
This role is about leading people, setting standards, and making service feel confident and smooth every night.

What This Role Actually Is

  • Lead from the floor during peak service
  • Coach servers and bartenders in real time (calm, direct, respectful)
  • Run short, intentional pre-shifts
  • Own guest experience and guest recovery
  • Develop leads and future managers
  • Execute service standards and revenue initiatives
  • Partner closely with the Executive Chef (clear lanes, no turf wars)
  • Turn vision into consistent execution

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a corporate clipboard GM
  • Not a "my last place did it this way" role
  • Not a micromanager or disciplinarian position
  • Not a job for someone who avoids weekends

Experience We're Looking For

  • Previous GM or senior FOH leadership experience
  • Strong hospitality instincts
  • Proven ability to lead teams through busy service
  • Solid understanding of labor, scheduling, and service flow
  • High emotional intelligence

Compensation & Benefits

  • $80,000 – $90,000 base salary
