Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-driven Estimator with experience or interest in architectural hardware to join our growing team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial doors, frames, and hardware packages based on construction documents, project specifications, and client requirements. The Estimator plays a critical role in supporting our sales and project management teams by ensuring precision and timeliness in all bid proposals.
Key Responsibilities
· Review architectural drawings, door schedules, and hardware sets to develop material take-offs and cost estimates.
· Interpret project specifications to ensure compliance with fire codes, ADA requirements, and industry standards.
· Identify product types and hardware configurations for doors, frames, and related components.
· Collaborate with project managers, sales staff, vendors, and general contractors to clarify scope and gather pricing.
· Create accurate and timely bid proposals using estimating software and Excel-based tools.
· Coordinate with suppliers to obtain current pricing and lead times.
· Assist in value engineering by offering alternative hardware solutions when necessary.
· Maintain organized records of estimates, vendor quotes, and project documentation for future reference.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
· Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (for reviewing and marking up architectural plans).
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret technical documents.
· Strong math and analytical skills with the ability to work independently.
· Ability to read and understand architectural plans, specifications, and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous estimating experience in architectural hardware, commercial doors and frames, or Division 8 products.
· Familiarity with industry software such as Comsense, Avaware, or Software for Hardware.
· Understanding of ANSI/BHMA hardware standards and commercial building codes.
· Experience communicating with vendors, subcontractors, and project teams.
