Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the sterilisation and proper handling of medical instruments and equipment, supporting patient safety and infection control standards. Duties
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilise surgical instruments and medical equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Inspect instruments for damage or contamination, ensuring all items meet safety standards before use.
- Operate sterilisation machinery and maintain accurate records of processing activities.
- Prepare instrument trays and packs for surgical procedures, ensuring correct assembly and labelling.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies, reordering as necessary to prevent shortages.
- Follow strict infection control policies and adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Assist with the transportation of sterile items within the healthcare facility using appropriate handling techniques.
- Document all processing activities accurately within hospital information systems.
Qualifications
- Previous laboratory or sterile processing experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English, with strong communication skills for effective teamwork and documentation.
- Basic IT skills for managing electronic records and operating sterilisation equipment.
- Knowledge of biochemistry principles related to sterilisation processes is advantageous.
- Valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties within the facility or between sites.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment. This position offers a vital role in supporting clinical operations through meticulous instrument management, contributing significantly to patient safety and care quality.
