The CNC Set-Up Machinist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of production schedules and the accuracy of components delivered to customers. Your expertise directly impacts throughput, quality, and customer satisfaction—helping the organization scale without sacrificing precision or standards. This role supports both prototype and production environments and helps keep manufacturing moving efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Set up CNC milling machines for production and prototype runs
- Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and offsets for each job
- Perform first article inspections and make necessary adjustments
- Monitor tool wear and machine performance throughout production
- Maintain accuracy and quality within tight tolerances
- Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and quality personnel
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of CNC Mill set-up experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with tight tolerances and precision components
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
- Familiarity with basic G-code adjustments preferred (not programming)
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused work habits
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
Physical Requirements
- Work performed on the shop floor with exposure to machining processes
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30–50 lbs. as needed
- Use of hands, tools, and measuring devices required
- Use of required PPE including safety shoes and eye protection
